You kidding me ? Sublime opener to that 1980 concert in SoCal. Is it a song or a painting ? The lyrics string together an attitude, not a story. the musicians are in a deep groove from the get go. Pat Metheny’s solo is airy and melodic, it just bumps along, not the first suggestion of overdone.
That really is it about this first song ” In France” isn’t it?
It’s like a French Impressionist painting in that it just sneaks up on you ….
